As a parent, there is one thing you should know about. Charlie’s Soap. For awhile I was using cloth diapers and used the powder laundry detergent, and with my order was a sample of this liquid soap. I don’t know what it is made from, but it is pure magic. My two-year-old colored permanent marker on my desk the other day and Voila – gone. Soaked it for a few minutes with this soap and wiped it away. I use it to clean my house, pre-treat laundry, clean outdoors – everything. If I had a parent survival kit this would be the first thing I packed. What would you pack?
To raise awareness that April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month A Safe Place is distributing informational sheets for parents and books called “My Body Belongs to Me.” Much of the information can be found on the NSVRC Website. If you would like a copy of the book, please contact A Safe Place Directly at 508-228-0561.
I think everyone should take a minute to watch this video. It shows the evolution of a fashion model as she gets made up and then Photoshopped. Remarkable. No girl could ever live up to these unrealistic standards of beauty.
I finally got off my butt and made some much needed updates to the site!
Almost every page has been updated.

Susan Salidor is an award-winning musician who specialized in bringing music to children. She also has long-time ties to Nantucket and our community of families. Susan visits Nantucket each year and hosts a series of workshops for educators, and a concert for island youth. Her songs are fun and diverse and engage the whole child…I dare you not to sing along!
Nantucket Community Music Center is now selling copies of Susan’s newest CD, “Come and Make a Circle 3 – everything you need for circle time!”
The CD’s are $15 each and Susan has graciously offered to donate a portion of the sales to Nantucket Community Music Center.
If you would like to purchase a CD, they are upstairs at 11 Centre Street (NCMC office).
Karen Gibbs, NCMC operations coordinator is in the office M-F from 9am – 2pm.
